Hi all,

Actually i am trying to move a VSAM dataset which is currently present in a volume serial(say DAHT12) to another volume serial(say DAHT20) , both of these volume serials belongs to an SMSed Storage group.
I am trying to do this using the ADRDSSU program , but what happens is when the object is moved , it is moved in to some other volume serial in the same storage group not the destination volume serial which i have coded.

Is there any way out to achieve this

Could anyone of you please help me out.

it all depends on the storage group definition...
You can target specific volumes only if the storage group has been defined
with the guaranteed space attribute

Hi Enrico,

The target volume serial which i mentioned is present in the storage group and it has some 1000 cyls as free space. And the file which i am trying to move is about some 3 trks only.

whether this is happening because of SMSed storage group?

I thought that my previous post was clear icon_biggrin.gif
please reread it and check a longer description of the guaranteed space attribute on the manuals

the issue is not DFDSS related anyway
its only related to the volume selection policy for any allocation

And also that your security software, or any inbuilt security in the ACS routines will allow you to use a GS defined STORCLAS.
