Hi,
In File-Aid batch
The VPRINT function prints records in vertical formatted mode, presenting the
data according to a COBOL or PL/I record layout like the vertical formatted
display of online File-AID Browse or Edit.
The VPRINT report output width is 132 characters. The report format includes
spaces separating the fields. When the VPRINT output exceeds the report width,
File-AID writes the VPRINT DATA TRUNCATION informational message, VP001-Data
truncation occurred while processing VPRINT request to the SYSPRINT log. Use the
FIELDS parameter to specify which fields to include in the VPRINT output |

One way is you display all the column and then hide the column you don't want. Fir that use 'HIDE' command which will give you list of all the columns and put x which you want to hide. You can get it back by again issuing hide command then put R for the columns you have hided.
YOu can use one more way i.e. use command DISPLAY <from col no - to col number> OFF.
Yuo can get it back by DISPLAY <from col no - to col number> ON.
You can try one thing that while giving the layout for a particular file, in the layout file try to keep only those field you need, rest of the of the them give as FILLER.
Though it is the most crude method i believe...hope this help you..
if you have any more concerns let us know..
correct me if i m wrong.... |

hi guys,
i am asking about cloumnwise search in file-aid. For example, if you want to search particular column in a table, just you try to put 'S' in left side of column names. |

Hello,
If you look in the Compuware Tools section of the forum, you will find several FileAid topics. |
