Hi,

can anyone pls let me know which component of CICS is used to control number of instances of a program that can run concurrently in CICS region.

in cics You can control the number of tasks running, not the number or the names of the programs
from a system point if view cics will not enter into the details of transaction flow
at a certain point it could happen that the same program is being executed on behalf of all the tasks running in tat cics instance
and IIRC, if all the maxtask, active maxtask, class maxtask, limits are respected nothing else will be checked
