I have been researching this question for about a week. I have looked in the manuals, CA7 online support, on this forum, and in the CA7 help panel. I cannot find what I am looking for and I hope that someone has an answer. I apologize in advance if I have missed this somewhere.
I need to list all the job resources that we have in CA7 for my shop. I am still learning about the product, and there is little that I can go on. I am pretty much teaching myself by manuals and helpful people in the field. I cannot find any type of Easytrieve or EARL report that lists this information.
An example of the type of resources that I am looking for would be akin to SCHENV, like DDF on DB2s being available. Has anyone had to find this sort of information in their shop?
Any guidance in the right direction would be helpful. Thanks. |

Hi Robin,
You might look/ask around to see if there are any existing EARL reports of any kind. If there are some, it may not be much work to convert them to your use. If you search the proc/jcl libraries for EARL executions, you may find some. If you talk with the schedulers and the people who support the CA7 product, they may also have some reports they use periodically rather than scheduled.
Given that it has been a while, you might also want to consider opening an issue with CA7 support. |

Dick,
I may have to open an issue with CA. I am still looking. I will look at the EARL reports that we have out there. The product is supported in my department. I think that we could be using it more efficiently than we are so that is why I am digging, researching, and finding things in CA7 that we have never used before. I have enough knowledge to run with bits and pieces and find bigger things. It will be a process, but this tool has more power and functionality than we are using right now.
I want to exploit all that we have paid for and get the most for our money. |

Thanks for the Google suggestion, but what I am looking for is geared more for something that should be in a manual or from users.
I spent hours on the RM screen and could not yield the desired results.
As it happened this nifty command was brought to my attention from the support website:
LJOB,JOB=*,LIST=RQVRM
It provides a long list of info. I looked at my newly aquired JCL library for CA7, and found a utility that will run this command for me in a batch job: CA7BTI.
I set the job up, put the command in and ran it. From there I transferred the file from the mainframe to my pc, and then imported it into an XLS so that I could sort the data. It worked great. Now I know every resource and the jobs that use them. Thanks for everyone's input, advice, and help. |

Thank you D. I am sure that I will present myself with more opportunity for learning in the future. It would be no fun without the challenges. |
