Question: No of devices that can be assigned to a dataset?


i have gone thru various search to find the answer for this question.but i did not get..can anybody help me?.

Please use a meaningful topic next time - Need answer is far from meaningful

And what type of device would this dataset reside upon.

What did the JCL manual say about the VOL parameter ???

I think the max is 56 vols. But it depends on the # of devices in the device type that you need - and/or the group/generic names used (and the # of devices assigned to each name) at your shop.

You can ask your sysprogs for the info, but they may grill you about why you need the # of devices you request.
