Hi All

I am unable to open any PDS or sequential file with my ID either in View or Edit mode but browse mode is working fine.
It is giving error 'FORMAT NOT FOUND'.

I am able to view edit using 1 and 2 utility but not by 3.4 , and IBM manuals says that for this error specify format in 3.11 .. but none of my co mates have any format mentioned there...

snop shot of what i get .

I remember doing something in the ISPPROF dataset to resolve this.

But if you ok to lose your current settings, get someone to delete the ISPPROF dataset after you logff. When you login again a new profile will be created and this problem should go off.

Hi ,
I too faced similar problem.
you can resolve this by Opening somether Sequential file and then remove the Parameter passed in FORMAT option in the VIEW ENTRY PANEL.

Follow the procedure.
Code:

DSLIST - Data Sets Matching TEDST.SLIUF.SURESH                     Row 1 of 70
 Command ===>                                                  Scroll ===> CSR

Command - Enter "/" to select action                  Message           Volume
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
          TEDST.SLIUF.SURESH.ALIB                                        STWF4B
          TEDST.SLIUF.SURESH.AMBS.CYCLE                                  STWF33
          TEDST.SLIUF.SURESH.AMBS.CYCLE.BKP                              STWF42
          TEDST.SLIUF.SURESH.AMCD                      Viewed            STWF42
    V     TEDST.SLIUF.SURESH.ATPT                                        STWF32

then you will get a popup panel, remove the parameter mentioned agains FORMAT

Code:

                     VIEW Entry Panel

Object Name:
'TEDST.SLIUF.SURESH.ATPT'
* No workstation connection
  Initial Macro  . . RES
Profile Name . . .           (Blank defaults to Type)
  Format Name  . . . E
Panel Name . . . .           (Leave blank for default)

  Options
     Confirm Cancel/Move/Replace
     VIEW Mixed Mode
     VIEW host file on Workstation
     Preserve VB record length
/  Warn on First Data Change

after this try opening your PDS member.

Hope this resolves your problem

If you open a PDS, and put E against a member, then tab across until the cursor is under the line 'Prompt', type / there and press enter.

i did the same as per your post, and an edit entry panel was thrown. What should we enter in the panel? please let me know the significance of "/" under prompt.

Indicating prompt says that you want the pop up panel to appear, so that you can then change the settings in that panel should you so desire.

In the case of the OP, the removal of the E from the format field will correct the problem encountered.

Hello All

The problem for me is solved.

In my view/edit entry panel , i didn't have any thing in format name . Neither did any of my team mates. yet i was the only one facing this problem.

So since i was ok losing my current settings, i renamed my ISPPROF dataset after i logged off . When i logged in again a new profile was created and this problem poofed away .

TSO ISRDDN command gives one the ISPPROF data set name
rename command i used was
RENAME 'ISPPGMR.AAA.PROFILE' 'ISPPGMR.AAA.PROFILE.OLD'

thanks
