Is this answer?

To Adham,

Welcome to forum...

INITIATOR is nothing but programs which is contineously running in MVS system as like JES2 or JES3 and they are assigned with some JOB CLASSES say A, C etc

When u submit a JOB say Having JOB CLASS=A then the initiator which is assigned with CLASS A will pickup and it will start execute that JOB

Hope u clear...

Yes. When a rather nebulous question is posted, the best answer is direction to where the information can be read and dealt with at the level the requestor needs.

I suppose that is one way to talk about initiators . . .

It is better to post a link to complete information than just "wing it" (unless you are very well-versed in the subject and can explain quite clearly).

FWIW - i also do not believe it is inappropriate to direct people with a question of this sort to the formal documentation.

Job class is used to select work for execution. Job classes can be used to enforce limits on CPU time, print lines, etc.

Service class is a function of Workload Manager (WLM). WLM controls the jobs once they are executing. More important jobs get CPU time, etc. Service class names may give a hint as to the importance of the work (HOTBATCH. LOWBATCH, etc.) Service classes may be assigned based on Job class, Job name or other factors.
