I'd like to create one PDS which contains list of all elements which are currently present in CA-Endevor (say in Test region).

Create a PDS using the ALLOC command

There is a link to the manuals posted as a thread near the top of this forum

1. Why a PDS as storage vehicle?

2. go to a 3.4 that lists the endevor source PDS's, do index.

3. there is a utilites sub-menu for endevor where you can generate all kinds of reports that will include element name/type.

I can only see you getting into trouble here. the list that you create today will be out_of_date tomorrow if there is any migration activity in endevor this afternoon.

why do you need a separate list of elements?

Hi,
Actually I would like to generate tool for HSS process. Following is my basic (High level) requirement for the same:

1. Client sends us some copybooks, cobol programs, dat files etc in requests.
2. We need to compare it with production region, QA or Test region elements which are with us in Endevor. If there are any changes then need to replace with ‘new came elements’ otherwise add it.

For this I thought we can extract these Prod, QA and Test region elements into respective PDS’s and then there is one tool WIP which will compare ‘new came elements’ with these PDS’s .

Keep in mind that thse PDS’s should populate every time whenever there are any changes in Endevor as you said.

with the WIP facility you can specify the root element location as either an endevor (E) stage or an (D) ISPF pds or ds.

again, there is no need to remove items from your repository (endevor).

WIP can access any element directly.

a batched 3.12 job (compare) can also access the endevor pds's that represent the prod. sources/copybooks/etc...

But in WIP i guess we need to manually feed PDs name as input,..Right?
I would like to automate that process only.Means whenever copybooks or programs come then instead of checking manually into endevor that with which region and latest version exactly need to compare.Tool will automatically select appropriate latest version and directly feed it to WIP.

Checking of region means if that document find in QA region and test region then it should select from QA region because here contain latest document.

Because of this I just want the list of that elements of Endevor into PDS.Like for Test region 1 PDS ... for QA region diffrent PDS.And those PDS should update automatically whenever new entry come in.
IS it possible using REXX?

You can get the list by all elements in endevor by following below method by batch submit
Go to envedor --> required region --> display --> batch --> build scl --> list elements (Create List actions for ENDEVOR elements) and mentioned the pds in which you want the list and submit the scl. You will get the list of the elements. If you want to take the list of elements for all region you can you use BUILD USING MAP = Y.
Hope this helps your query.

cheers
