In ESDS data are stored without respect to the contents of the records and in the order in which they are included (come) in file whereas both ESD and KSDS can not be created on tape.

Wheras KSDS is key sequential access, file is accessed with a key value. KSDS has both data and index components. It faster access than ESDS or sequential, LDS datasets.
