Hi

I have a GDG. I do not know the number of versions it has.

Latest version has lrecl 1020 and and other has 270.

Input to sort file is the GDG BASE FILE alone.

GDG BASE FILE - A.B.C

VERSION: A.B.C.G0001V000
A.B.C.G0002V000
A.B.C.G0003V000
A.B.C.G0004V000
A.B.C.G0005V000
A.B.C.G0006V000
.
.
.
.
and so on...

SORTIN is :A.B.C

Hi prabhu118 !

Just have a try and let a now the result's.

Just be free of fear and try it out. You will learn a lot more by doing something than by asking before having it checked out by yourself.

Self-respect is growing by finding it out on your own.

Regards, UmeySan

Hello,

prabhu118

Is your question complete ? If you want to sort GDG base. A normal SORT will work out, I tried and don't see any issues.

Sorry, the block size can vary but "With fixed-length records, LRECL must be the same for all data sets."
Think about it, how would a sort know when the lrecl changes?
