I used to be able to run queries using query support feature for Syncsort with DB2 V7. But with DB2 V8, I am getting the below message.

Code:
WER468A  DB2 QUERY SUPPORT ERROR: DB2 MODULES ARE NOT LINKED

I am just curious to know if DB2 query support feature for Syncsort V1R2 will work with DB2 V8.

Hello,

I'd suggest you talk with your local Syncsort and/or DB2 support people and make sure that the modules were re-linked when the database was upgraded. I'm fairly sure that this is necessary, but i cannot confirm just now.

die7nadal,

The DB2 Query Support in SyncSort requires that BSSIP12 is received and applied during the installation procedures. Assuming that SyncSort for z/OS was installed at your site using SMP/E, please verify that BSSIP12 was included in the APPLY step (SS12APLY).

Hi Alissa,

Are there different interface modules for the different db2 releases or does one module work for all of db2?

Thanks,

d

Just in case there may be someone reading this who is unfamiliar with SyncSort's DB2 Query Support, BSSIP12 contains support for direct retrieval of data from a DB2 database based on a user-provided query.

To successfully apply BSSIP12, your target zone must have two additional DDDEFS. The first is a DDDEF for SDSNLOAD pointing to IBM's SDSNLOAD library, which they provide with DB2. The second is a DDDEF for LINKLIB pointing to SYS1.LINKLIB. (This is noted in the jobstream of SyncSort's APPLY step SS12APLY.)

Dick - As long as these DDDEFS are specified with the correct libraries, and BSSIP12 is applied successfully, then no other changes should be necessary.

Thank you, ma'am.

Continuing to try to clear my ignorance. . . .

What (if anything) needs to be done to the existing Syncsort environment if the "new" db2 install was done with different libraries? What was specified previously would not point to the new V8 library(ies), but would point to V7 - or?

Thanks again,

d

I do not believe they have to be re-linked after the initial installation...
