Hi
What is diffrence between simulator and emulator?
I want to practice on cobol, jcl and db2 at my desktop pc on dummy projects, without connecting to any mainframe server. Is Master Pack is helpful to me? Is simulator in this pack is helpful and is it for Life time? |

A simulator looks like it's doing something, but not really. An emulator does not work like the original, but actually does perform the same tasks.
So - a flight simulator lets me pretend to fly a plane, but I'm really in a chamber on the ground, rocking arond and looking at a fake screen (actually, the screen is real).
My 3270 terminal emulator is really a PC program, but I access the mainframe identically and get all of my work done (except during March Madness). |

I'd suggest you download "Hercules" to your pc and go from there.
There are several topics in our forum about Hercules - use "SEARCH" near the top of the page.
Phil, very cool explanation. . . |
