IDENTIFYING VSAM & NON-VSAM

HI Friends,

I am referring 1 program , i that they are used one indexed file with access mode is dynamic.But my doubt is weather the file is VSAM OR NON-VSAM.How do we identify that in cobol program.I know that if i open that file in 3.4 option.i can identify its vsam or non-vsam.But i want to identify that in program.Plz let me know about this.

I would think that if defined as VSAM and it fails to open, then it might not be a VSAM dataset.....
