And why do people insist on posting questions based on the assumption that everyone else talks in "cobol-ese" and automatically know what
"s9(8) comp-3" means?

It would also be helpful to know what format the date is in and what format you want it in (mmddyy, yymmdd, or ddmmyy etc)?

Hello,

Quote:

If the comp-3 date is 20080215 it will not fit into the target field. . . . How should that be handled?

The date format is(mmddyy) and i dont need a change in the date format.
My requirement is to unload from a table using a query and in that itself to convert the data type format.
