Hi all
Could anyone tell me how to get the result of a console command.
My requirement is that, when I issue 'D SMF' by a job using 'PGM=SDSF', I want to get back the result to a dataset, so that i can write a rexx to recognize which dataset is required to dump.
Thanks |

With a proper system setup, You can save some work..
check that the smf dataset switch exit is implemented in Your shop..
with this exit activated every time a switch will occur the appropriate smf dump procedure will be started
whith the help of Your shop scheduler product, or with the Jes* automatic command facility every day at midnight
issue the command to switch the smf dataset recording to a new one
everything, proceeding in this way, will be automated
no need to write anything to find out which datasets must be dumped |

You can issue SDSF command directly from within COBOL/REXX/CLIST. That includes the PRINT command.
