Hi All,
I have two queries
in order to access a z/OS DB2 table from DB2 UDB on a UNIX server using nicknames; do I require any other software besides
1. DB2 Connect
2. DB2 UDB which is installed on UNIX server
3. DB2 z/OS which is installed on mainframe
this allows me to access my remote mainframe tables like
select r_a,r_b from mf_schema.A,unix_schema.B
where r_a > 100 and r_b < 1000
with ur;
Would I mandatorily require tools like DB2 Relational Connect for achieving this.
Also, my next query is how is the DB connection to z/OS & unix maintained in tha query like this. User id and password entered during user mapping is used only once and the connection to z/OS is maintained until specifically disconnected.
or its connected and disconnected every time I access mainframe DB2 via the nickname created on UNIX.
Thanks in advance

what about searching the IBM redbooks,
they usually give very good insight on the general architecture of things
