Multiple job submission through JCL

Hi,

What is the Maximum no of job cards we can use in a single JCL for submitting different jobs?

Please give me the ans.

I don't believe that there are any documented limits.

Hi,

We can submit upto 255 jobs thro' a single jcl at a time. Try it out. In some cases admin may cancel jobs.I m tried its working fine. Sometimes some jobs were canceled by admin.

Example:
Check it with creating partitioned datasets using IEFBR14 utility.

I think, that the limit is the call from your system admin or an operator that find all the classes full...

Seriously...
There are some limit about the submit.
The temporary limit is done from the number of initiator in active but it is not a problem... it only deferr your job when one of these will be free.

The limit of spool is done from the max number of job queued(in queue, in execution in held and in output) in the spool and this is a parameter that system admin insert in IBM Console and for applicative programmer is trasparent.
When this limit is reached no submit will accepted from JES(I don't remember the JES2 Command to see the actual status througth console but $DA,ALL retrieve all JES2 informations...I think that with $DQ you can see all the queued...) and systems seems stopped and if you can you must clear the queue or, if this is impossible you must do a IPL.

hey,
A job can contain a maximum of 255 steps. can a job contain 255 job cards ? please confirm.

There's no documented limits. Test it out and let us all know what you find out.

At a max your Job can have a max of 255 jobcards......or else there should be a JCL error.
