hi,

I have a doubt regarding the packed decimal fields writing in a file.

i write the packed decimal field in a file or i display it in a file, wat happens is, the decimal point is not being displayed.

for example 25.000 is displayed as 25000......

wat could be the problem...... in JESLOG the decimal point is visible in the file it is not visible.....

also wen we do it as a single field the decimal points is displayed but when i give it as a group this does not work...........

wat could be the problem......

can anyone help?

It has been mentioned many times in the past that packed decimal fields do not contain an explicit decimal point - they only are defined with an implicit decimal point.

To successfully display a packed-decimal field, you must display the actual field - not the group that it is part of.

Understanding.
