hi all,
can there be two steps with same name with in a single proc.
if so , how do we override any one of the step?

there is no rule about step naming...
but when You try to identify a particular one,
having duplicates will not let You do it |

As I recall, any refs to the stepname is directed to the step that appears 1st. |

there is no rule to put different name for steps in a job.
you can use same name even for all steps but the problem is to find out the failures for the job |

there is no specific rule to put different name for steps in a job.
But whenever you want to use RESTART or Overriding or referback parameter, then its required to have unique step names. |

Hello,
Most organizations will not allow a job to be promoted to production with multiple steps of the same name. While the jcl syntax check permits multiples of the same step name, it is a terrible practice. |
