Friends,

This is quite a naive question. I want to know what a DB2 Subsystem is and how is it related to the tables.

I know when i want to test a db2 program, i give the name of the DB2 subsystem, say DSNT2, in SYSTIN card.
But what if the Alias in the program is referring to a table on remote db2 subsystem DSNT3 and rest of the queries are referring to tables on DSNT2. How can I put two db2 subsystem names in the SYSTIN card?

Thanks,
Ajay

Use DB2 SQL statement CONNECT:

EXEC SQL
CONNECT TO RMTDB2
END-EXEC.

RMTDB2 identifies a location name of a remote DB2 subsystem.

The DB2 table sysibm.locations defines the location names of such DB2 subsystems.

Subsystem in DB2 z/os version is similar to Instance in DB2 windows version which provides a separate DB2 environment .

Still i am unclear about it as far as my question is concerned in terms of z/os.

Please clear my doubt about above question.

Hello,

I'd suggest you talk with the people who provide database support on your system. They can tell you if you can do what you want on that system and how you should do it on that system.
