Hi,
Is there a way to protect your IMS terminal, I mean to prevent that terminal from receiving any message other than the ones sent by the program which sets the protection ?
thanks.

Terminal security is a part of your system design working with your tech services people. Many installations have a "main menu" that will only grant access to those who have "signed off" on the security procedures that enable them to have access to your system - normally based on usierid - much like the internet. Your terminal normally is not "assigned" to a particular system - kind of like the internet. It is up to the security people and those in charge of your system.

Yes, thank you. I'm explaining the context: I'm on a project translating a proprietary language into Cobol, in IMS environment. In that proprietary language they have a function doing that kind of "Terminal protection", so I ask, is there a way to do it in Cobol using DLI calls ?

WHY? JUST BECAUSE! icon_lol.gif
Seriously, that's our job, we must translate every function from this proprietary language to Cobol, that's in the contract, so if there's a way to protect an IMS terminal from receiving any message, I'd like to know it.

This can be found by following the first link in the sticky where info about IMS may be found. Just search for security and explore manuals like the Transaction Manager.

Have fun icon_wink.gif
