I have a 100 byte file where the first 10 bytes are of account balance and like that i have a million records and i want to add all of the records first 10 bytes(i.e., account balance).... plz do let me know how to do this using sort????

If you need more specific help, please show an example of the records in the input file (relevant fields only) and what you expect for output. Give the starting position, length and format of each relevant field. Give the RECFM and LRECL of the input file.
