Hi All,
Since i am very new to IMS DB so please excuse me if my question is irrelevant.
Is it possible to copy a IMS databse to a flat file through JCL. If yes, please let me know the JCL... A little bit of explanation will be appreciated.
Thanks and Regards

JCL will not do what You want...
JCL will only execute programs,
and as a side effect allocate(create) new files, delete old files..
For something real to happen some program must be executed..
To process an IMS/DB(aka DL/1) database a program must be run,
it could be a user written program or a utility provided by some program product
for a very high speed sequential unload check the HSSR add on package for IMS |

Hi,
There is no option for this I think, as per my knowledge read what segments you want and write in to file using cobol program/eztrive or you can see segments using IMS-FILEAID.

Yes. According to my knowledge, FILEAID will do it.
There is a copy option in FILEAID Utilities. U can specify the FROM as your Region DB and TO as your pesonal PDS. |

There are probably "unload" products out there. But, first you must know what exactly you want - why do you want the database in a sequential file - what info are you looking for - what format - etc. A cobol DLI program is the most simple option - that way you get exactly what you want. It should not take more than a few hours for the program - executing JCL and testing. |
