I have to perform a function wherein in my JCL I have 7 steps in my JCL. I have to execute step 1 to step 7 each step on particular days.
example :- step 1 on monday...
step 2 on tuesday.... likewise...

Actually i dont want to use a COBOL program....Instead if possible i want to use something else.

Thanks,
Loknath

Loknath, I re-titled your post and moved it to the JCL forum as a SYNCSORT question. You mentioned that you don't want to use COBOL, yet you failed to provide details as to what you wanted for an alternative.

See this previous topic for some possible solutions.

Actually, you can get the day of the week with DFSORT's system symbol string constant support, available since April, 2006. I'm not sure if getting the day that way would help in this situation, and Syncsort doesn't have this function anyway, but I thought I'd mention it for the record.

Code:

//S1  EXEC PGM=ICEMAN
//SYSOUT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYMNAMES DD *
CUR_DAY,S'&WDAY'
/*
//SORTIN   DD *
RECORD
/*
//SORTOUT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN    DD *
 OPTION COPY
 INREC BUILD=(CUR_DAY)
/*

Today (Thursday), SORTOUT would have:

THU

For complete details, see "System Symbol String Constants" in my paper at:
