Spawn JCL

in unix system environment spawn is the equivalent of "attach"

to spawn a task, means to attach a task,
the result is that You have two processes running..

applying the same concept to JCL it might, repeat might, mean
to "submit" a jcl strem from a step of the current JCL

in MVS I have never heard of such term , maybe it' s local jargon

but it would be better if You told us in which environment You got that term[/quote]

Enrico,
Spawn JCL is an old concept. I heard from grapevine that its a JCL which is executed by another JCL. Or may be its other way round. No, its not a local jargon.Since its an old concept we might not have known about it much. But i cant even get on it on the internet. Its the MVS environment, btw.
