Think about it for a minute.
You know it won't be NEW,PASS, obviously. What do you think then it would be? There's not many options. |

hi kevin,
sorry, i didn't get ur answer. ok let it be.
the thing is i am using a dataset in a jcl to carry the output of one step to another. i dont want to catlog it, as i dont want that beyond that jcl. 'new' means create the DS if it is successful 'pass' it to the next step. pls clarify me in all.
thanks regards,

Hi Manjunath,
Kevin didn't answer for ur question but gave hint and asked u to think for the answer.
In subsequent steps mention OLD or SHR depending on ur requirement.

yes, in the last step, we mention OLD, DELETE. Also temporary datasets will be deleted on their own once JOB is completed. |

For a temporary data set name, the system ignores any abnormal termination disposition specified in the third subparameter and always PASSes the data set to subsequent steps. |
