If we need to transfer high volume of data from mainframe to informatica database, then which transfer mechanism should be considered? NDM or FTP.
Also, what are the differences between NDM and FTP. Which one is better out of the two? Please explain.

High Volume + High Speed + High Reliability + Checkpoint Restart capability = CONNECT:Direct (NDM).

Since delving into the differences between CONNECT:Direct and FTP is a substantial task, and really more of a marketing concern, I'd direct you to read the various white papers available on the Sterling Commerce website (www.stercomm.com).

Hello,

Checkpoint/restart allows a transmission to be resumed after an abnormally terminated transfer. This can be very valuable when huge amounts of data are being transferred.
