Difference between W and S while defining field names

Can anyone provide me information regarding difference between two working storage variables one defined as W and another defined as S in EASYTRIEVE.

Coding a W or S establishes a working storage field. CA-Easytrieve/Plus spools W fields to report (work) files; it does not spool S fields. For an example, see Chapter 11, “Report Processing: Report Procedures.”
