Resubmit will bring the new copy of your JCL before the job executes.Where as restart would uses old version of your JCL.

resubmit means submit the job what you have submitted previously.
job execution will start from first step

restart means restart the job from particular step (from which step you want )

Do we have to mention the RESUBMIT parameter anywhere in the JCL? What is the syntax?

Ok thanks. So its more like using "SJ" in the spool and then SUB to resubmit the job again.

Not exactly, becauese you can add a restart param to the job card and then SJ it.

I haven't tested this, but I have changed JCL and SJed it with no problem.

meenal,

Once the job execution is completed, when you re-run the job (eiither using 'sj' or from 3.4) it will be treated as 'new copy' and NOT the completed one.
