Hi,
Is there any way we can find out the oldest generation in catalog.
Eg:
Code: |
XXXX.YYYY.ZZZZ============>GDG Base
XXXX.YYYY.ZZZZ.G1256V00===>Oldest Generation
XXXX.YYYY.ZZZZ.G1257V00
XXXX.YYYY.ZZZZ.G1258V00
XXXX.YYYY.ZZZZ.G1259V00
XXXX.YYYY.ZZZZ.G1260V00===>Latest Generation |
Thanks,
Murari

Hello,
You can find this using tso/ispf (3.4 usually) or a LISTCAT.
I know of no way to code somethng "special" in jcl to refer to the oldest cataloged generation. |

Hi,
in the example you have given, the -5 version should always be the oldest GDG.
I'm assuming the GDG base was built with 6 entries.
The -5 will only work once 6 GDGS have been added to the GDG base.
