Hello,
Identifying a looping job is usually done by looking at the way the job is performing using S.DA or some monitor product. If the job is using a lot of cpu cycles and is doing no i/o, it may well be in a loop.
If you have a job that does all of the work it needs to do, and then starts over and does everything over and over again, that will be more difficult to detect. It will not appear to be in a loop as it will be doing i/o and using cpu time.
Depending on how your system is configured, the job may eventually time-out for one reason or another or it may be canceled.
If i've misunderstood your question, please advise. |

Hi,
You've got it right. I knew about SD DA but I wanted to know if there was something on CA7 to detect that.
Are there any tools that can be used to detect this automatically from SD DA without manual intervention? |

It' s impossible to define standards to identify loops...
so the responsibility is almost always on the operations team
A PRODUCTION JOB DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO LOOP ! :-)
canceling a production job has usually nasty consequences
Making provisions for loop handling in a scheduling system
will certainly lead to poor system integration testing |

Hello,
You might ask your production or system support if your system has some kind of system monitor - there are several.
You can set a monitor process to refresh every n seconds and put the higher resource users at the top of the display. 2 common resources to watch are database usage and cpu usage. |
