Hi all,

I have a requirement in which i need to copy the first 100 gen of the GDG to another GDG.

say GDG1 has 200 gens, i need to pull out first 100 and put them as separate gen in another GDG2. So now my GDG2 will have 100 gen. The reason we need to do this is coz the flow of the files is huge and it might go beyond 255 at some point. in that case i might loose my unprocessed generations as well.

so any time when the count of gen goes to 200 a job will run and move the first 100 gen to a new GDG.

Any inputs will be of great help

Thanks

For copying 100 versions I believe concatination is the only way.
For all the versions we could have copied the base itself.

Hello,

I believe you misunderstand how generations are handled. You can only refer to 255 by relative number (i.e. 0, -1, -5, etc), but you can have thousands of generations active (your.dsn.GnnnnNnn).

If you search in the forum, this was also a topic not long ago.
