Hi,

I'm having below 2 info
1. Dataset Highest Qualifier e.g. F6404 (Must)
2. Last Access On [ in days ] e.g. 120.. (Optional). Default is 1.

Requirement is that i need to find out all those datasets (all types) for the given qualifier which have NOT been accessed for so many days.

Need to extract below Info
Dataset Name -- Type -- Created On -- Last Access -- Size
-------------------- ------ ------------- -------------- -----
F6404.PROD.CVG -- PS -- 10/03/2002 -- 03/09/2006 -- 13534532
where size is in TRKS

In short we need to find the datasets which remain in the system untouched forever occupying unnecessary DASD or TAPE.

You can do it under TOS using the ISMF dialogs
or in batch processing the DCOLLECT output

NO!!

At most You might get a hint on how to proceed,
You should remember that what You are asking is something
which has to be customized for Your needs

You are asking for the space allocated in tracks...
this info must be calculated, the information is stored in the VTOC in the
units specified at allocation time, ( KB, records, blocks, tracks, cylinders )
You need to normalize by taking into account all the parameters
blksize, track capacity, tracks per cylinder

Why not start by analyzing the data provided by ISMF ??
You will certainly learn a lot of things, and start to have a more clear view
of the concept of storage management and administration
( ISMF panels and reporting facilities will let You know what info You have available )

Since the operation will be manual at the initial stages of the project, to run the reports interactively will help adjust the parametrization

as an alternative You might use the IDCAMS DCOLLECT function
and search the IBM site for the dfsort samples and symbols that can be
used to process DCOLLECT data
