My company is using a DB2 database which is a production version and we don't have any back up. Also by projection the DB2 index limit is going to be exceed the limit in another 6 months. So how can we resolve this poblem. Is there anyway to partion the Index or any alternative approach available for this problem...
DB2 Version : 8.1 |

Hello,

You'd best get one. What is the reason for having a production database and no backup strategy?

Please clarify what this tells us. What limit do you mean?
Are there any DBA(s) supporting your system? |

We have backup but we dont have the archival policy and we are maintaining the 17 years of data. there is a table with 5 index (1 cluster + 4-non cluster) and the aggregate size of all the index is going to exceed 2 billion. The table has 128 partition and the clustering index also has 128 partition. So let me know how to resolve this isssue. |

was this db2 table defined as a direct one-to-one from an old existing vsam structure? |

"Size"? 2 billion what (bytes, tracks(not likely), entries)?

So far, i do not kow what the issue is.
Keep in mind that your problem/requirement is completely clear to you, but it is not to others.
The initial post said there was no backup, but later it said that there is backup, but no archival policy. Well, ok.
If you more clearly (to us) explain what you need, we may be able to offer better suggestions. |

The actual problem is the no of rows in the index is going to exceed the 2 billion rows in another 6 months. So the REORG utility provided by IBM is not able to handle this problem. So please suggest me some alternatives.
They told me some solutions:
1.64-bit addressing
2.DPSI
3.Archival
also give me some lights on the above topics |
