Hi, all,
Please favour me...
Can i access AIX without using path definition.
I heard that for accessing AIX we need to define VSAM first and Path next. Why we need declaration of VSAM first as we know that AIX does have DATA and INDEX part?
Regards

If you browse .AIX, you will see the seconday key and pointerto the VSAM cluster. You will not find the actual data there. |

hi,
we can't access AIX with out using path . Because path is used for connecting AIX to base cluster.
In path all data is sorted according to AIX. |

Yes, but the AIX is populated by data from the base VSAM cluster.
Have you tried to define an AIX without there being a base cluster ?

When did a path start to store data ? |
