One of our customers got this message while trying to logon through the main menu.

Thanks

Hello,
With no more info to go on, it sounds like they were trying to access somethng that was not available. . .
If you find and post more info, we may have some suggestions.
You need to identify what their logon sequence is and where in the process it fell down. |

ok,
that looks more like a message coming from a VTAM session manager
menu.
I would contact your Systems programmer. |

the message comes from VTAM itself when a LU tries to establish a session
exchanging the BIND parameters
/reminisc-on
There is one default logon mode table called ISTINCLM
but the user can define it' s own logmodes by assemblying and linking a source
with the relevant macros customized with as many DLOGMODES
necessary
in the vtam configuration library the logical unit will have in its definitions
something like "LOGMODE=logon-mode-table,DLOGMOD=logon-mode-table-entry"
the message usually implies a wrong vtam configuration or
if the device supports it a user typing error in an unformatted logon
from for example from a 3270 device
..."LOGON APPLID(TSO) LOGMODE(logmode-table) DLOGMOD(logmode-entry)
/reminisc-off
regards

Wow, thanks all of you...
I too agree, its VTAM message though the user has already entered the application when he got this message.
I don't think its a wrong VTAM configuration other wise the user wuld not have been able to enter on second try. user typing error in an unformatted logon could be a probable reason, could you elaborate more on this, Enrico? |

no replies yet :-(
Dick...(or anyone out there?) could you please tell me what 'user typing error in an unformatted logon' is? How could this error come only once and not repeat?
Thanks

Helllo Sandhya,

what 'user typing error in an unformatted logon' is? |
This most likely refers to entering the logon as a command instead of via some formatted screen.
Has it only ever happened once? Or, does it happen once in a while, but only on the first attempt to logon for a session? |

This makes sense. Thanks Dick
Yes as of now, it happened only once and not on the first attempt to logon for a session. |
