Hi!
I have searched the forums and have found no information on NTP clients on Z/OS.
For security purposes, we need all of our various platforms to get their system time from a remote NTP server to stay synchronized.
We do not own the system we are on. Rather, we lease an LPAR on a large system. I don't know if this fact has bearing.
The owners of the mainframe say that we will need something called a sysplex timer to accomplish this. I would like some insight on why this might be needed. I would think that a simple NTP client should suffice. Does it have to do with multiple LPARS having minute and second differences on their system clocks?
Thank you.

It helps greatly. Thank you.
In case anyone is curious, this is to satisfy security requirements in an evironment where multiple systems are interacting. If there is a breach, you want to be able to count on the timestamps in the various security logs correlating, so we are seeking to make our machines synchronized.
Thanks again.
