what is the implication of EBCDIC CCSID in a LOAD card

Hi All,

Can anyone explain why we give EBCDIC CCSID in the LOAD card. All i know is it has something to do with the data type we are trying to Load.Can anyone explain more on this.Also what is meant by SBCS and DBCS.

The other part of your question:

single-byte character set (SBCS). A set of characters
in which each character is represented by a single byte.


double-byte character set (DBCS). A set of
characters, which are used by national languages such
as Japanese and Chinese, that have more symbols
than can be represented by a single byte. Each
character is 2 bytes in length.
