How to use Uncatlogued Tape data set

Hi all

One of tape dataset has got uncataloged. Its a production GDG.
Actually its dataset created in Feb 2005

Instead of Cataloging the Tape dataset. I want to use the data from that dataset. I know VOLSER nos of my data set. I found out using Tape management System.

If I have catlog it again, I need to demand in a job using CA7 and then cataloging. thats a difficult process for me to do.

I want to direcly give the VOLSER and access the data and use it for my purpose.

Well use the volser then.

Or use IDCAMS to recatalog it. If you don't have the authority to recatalog it, then talk to someone who does, because in most cases the TMS will scratch the tape once it becomes uncatalogued. Then it will be lost for ever once it's been written on again.

yes, finally I gave VOL=SER and I tried that option and it works.
