Hi there

Is it possible to read SMF records using PERL or Visual Basic on a PC.

How could one convert EBCDIC to ASCII but still leave the records in a format that they could be read/ interpreted .

Thanks in advance

Hello,

I'd suggest you read the SMF records on the mainframe and create text files of the records/fields you are interested in for the download to use on the windows platform.

A major issue is that much of the contents are not convertable - binary numbers, bit-switches, etc.
