Hi all,
I have compiled and linked a cobol program through JCL, and i kept the linked file in my dataset. (eg. X.COBOL.LOADLIB).
But everyday it is getting deleted. I dont know what is happening to these datasets......
Does it mean that, we cannot keep the loadlibs in our dataset instead of sys* datasets?
Please help me in this regard. |

it could be stored on temporary dasd.
Check your dataset storage allocation |

Ask your system support people, they might be able to help you out. Maybe you are not following naming conventions or not creating your loadlibs in volumes assigned for development or maybe creating on temporary volumes which can be scrached by system any time..
In short, it is site dependent. |

Hi,
Maybe the dataset expires everyday?
I've had this problem and it's because the DATACLASS (or MANAGEMENT class, i forgot,no mainframe access today ) that i've used is set to expire in just two days time so when I view the datasets the following week, they're all gone. I've used ISMF to verify the classes (Not sure though if you also have this... heh)
Just a thought |

I talked my Senior TM.... He said it might be because of the ds name..... He advised me to avoid the name 'LOADLIB' in the ds name.... as some house keeping jobs would run in our system that could search and delete such datasets....
Let me try giving a different name....
Thanks for all your inputs.... |

Hello,
Is there some reason to not use the system standard testing loadlib(s)? Most systems have standard complie PROCedures and these place the linked modules in some "standard" loadlib. |

Hi Gopal,
I assume you have your own pvt libs that are not being deleted.
Try to alloc your loadlib using one of those pvt libs as a model and change only the dir blks, lrecl and blksize. |
