Hi All,

Can anybody suggest me if there is a way to avoid users from copying and pasting data on IMS DC screens.

I mean the user will have to key-in data and he cannot copy paste using a Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V.

regards,
Soumya

That would be a function of the emulator or device.....

NOPE.

Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V
- This is done using the edit functions of the 3270 emulators, and no way related to IMS DC

Use some registry hacks to diable those keys, but then it would disable it across all of Windows. Even if you disabled CTRL-C, CTRL-V you have still left the possibility of CTRL-PRINT SCREEN and they can take a screen shot of the data and use that as they wish, or manually type the data to and from notepad or some other text editor, etc. If it is displayed on a screen, the data can be copied for use elsewhere in some technical fashion.

Hello,

What business reason is there to force a user to key many strokes (which is highly error-prone), rather than copying the info from another place? If it was only a few characters, it would be easier to key than copy/paste. . .

If it is not typed, it probably won't be typoed. . .

Hi Dick, I am thinking security - if people have access to this system and there is a doubt about their integrity, they should not have access.

Hello,

I'd agree that if "they" are not trusted (or even if they are trusted, but have no business reason to use the system), they shouldn't have access, but i'm not sure how preventing copy/paste would help.

Maybe TS will tell us what kind of information needs this "protection". . .
