DON'T DO IT, You can cause far more problems than you think by trying to use this to protect a resource.
What do you need to do, and we can probably tell you the security commands to protect what you need to do. |

Use RACF. Most sites have an entry point (panel) for non-admin types that allow you to provide security on your datasets. Use PF1 - Help - if you don't understand a panel.
Most of the requests to 'know how to protect a DS with a password' stem from wanting to hide all the requester's work.
as expat said, password protection is not advised on the MF. It works much differently than on a PC. |
