How to set password for the dataset

could anyone please tell me how to set password for the dataset.

DON'T DO IT, You can cause far more problems than you think by trying to use this to protect a resource.

What do you need to do, and we can probably tell you the security commands to protect what you need to do.

no just to know how to protect the dataset by a password...

Use RACF. Most sites have an entry point (panel) for non-admin types that allow you to provide security on your datasets. Use PF1 - Help - if you don't understand a panel.

Most of the requests to 'know how to protect a DS with a password' stem from wanting to hide all the requester's work.

as expat said, password protection is not advised on the MF. It works much differently than on a PC.
