Hi,All,
I found many examples to use icetool to match two files in this forum. But i could only use sort. Can i use sort to do this?
eg.
infile1:
01aaa
02bbb
03ccc
infile2:
01AA
03DD
outfile:
01aaaAA
02bbb
03cccDD
(the first 2 bytes of the two infiles are keys for matching)
Thanks for your reply. |

Why? If you have DFSORT, then you have DFSORT's ICETOOL. ICETOOL has been shipped with DFSORT since 1991. |

Thanks.
There is no job using icetool in our production batch enviroment. So i'm afraid to use it if there is any issues about version, authority or other problems.
and another reason is i have never used icetool before and i am not familiar with this utility. |

I have no idea what you mean by "issues". ICETOOL is an official part of DFSORT - it has been since 1991. If you're using DFSORT, there should not be any version or authority issues or other problems with using DFSORT's ICETOOL. You're fears are unfounded.

There are many, many, many examples using DFSORT's ICETOOL on this board. Just do a search. Complete documentation on DFSORT's ICETOOL is available online at:
publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/ICE1CA20/6.0?DT=20060615185603
and
publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/ICE1CG20/3.0?DT=20060615173822
If you want me to show you how to do what you want with DFSORT's ICETOOL, give me the RECFM and LRECL of the input files. |
