Hi,
My shop has SYNCSORT installed and whenever I run jobs with
EXEC PGM=SORT and EXEC PGM=ICETOOL, SYNCSORT and SYNCTOOL get called in place of DFSORT and ICETOOL.
Is there any way I can bypass SYNCSORT and run DFSORT? |

Hello,
Please talk wikth your system support people. They can tell you if both are installed and how to set up your jcl to use other than the default sort product.
Most sites have one sort product rather than 2 or more. |

Hi,
Or maybe you can override the default libraries using //STEPLIB? Not that sure though since i've only actually used //STEPLIB DD overrides in my programs. Don't know if same applies to SORT.
In any case, you may still need to contact your system programmer/s to know the location of the SORT modules, unless if you want to search for them yourself
Just a thought. |

Since PGM=ICEMAN invokes Syncsort, that means Syncsort is the primary sort product at your shop. It's possible (though unlikely) that your shop has both Syncsort and DFSORT. If they do, then your System Programmers would have installed DFSORT as the secondary sort product in private libraries and you would have to JOBLIB or STEPLIB to those libraries to use DFSORT. If that's the case, your System Programmers can tell you the names of the libraries to JOBLIB/STEPLIB to. |
