Dear All,
Can you please help me to find the creation time of a dataset on tape using Listcat. Creation date i can find from it.
Actually i am looking for one utility program in which i want to input the name of one GDG base and a date (Old Date). this program should check all the available generation and write the generation which is created on the specified date and if there are more than one generation created on that day than it should write name of all the generation created on that day with time.
Please suggest me the easy way. I can write COBOL program and write JCLs.
Thanks in advance,
Om |

HI all,
use TMS command to get all the information of the TAPE datasets.......
you have to give this TMS command before the dataset which you want to see the information about the dataset.

Hi Mohan,
you can use S or I line command to get the information before the dataset which you want to find in 3.4 panel if it s DASD dataset.......

Thanks for ur response....but my requirement is "IN JCL", how can I find the RECF of the input file and basing on that , I have to do some process...like if RECFM is VB then only change the format to FB otherwise leave it as it is.
I have to find out in the JCL step itself that what is the RECFM of the input file. |

The only possible way to find DCB parameters for a Tape dataset is copying the tape dataset into one sample PS by giving the DCB parametes for the PS as DCB=(*.STEP NAME OF TAPE DATASET) in an IEBGENER step.... it will definitely works..
make sure you are specifying the DISP=OLD for tape dataset.
please correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks,
Murali. |

hy there,
the only way to get these values,
query rmm (removable media manager),
the component for managing your tapes.
there you can get the required values....

hy together,
i don't know these commands as standard ispf commands...
it could be also any user written rexx or clist, which is doing
this at your shop as a background script...
note: RMM (removable media manager) is a main component
of SMS, which is containig SMS,HSM and RMM... see also STC DF*
