Hello,
I'd suggest you talk with your dbas or storage management people - they can tell how this is done on your system.
If you merely want a copy of the data from a table, you can use UNLOAD if you have permission. |

Image copy may or may not be what TS is asking about. . . Different systems/organizations have different backup/restore strategies. When one is looking for "the way" to do this, the best bet is to talk with the people already responsible for this. It is a bad practice to have every person with an interest create their own backup/restore procedure. If, however, one wants a copy of a set of data for repeated testing (for example) having an unloaded set of data to work with should not be a problem.
Do you mean Logical Unit of Work for LUW? Most database systems i've supported use LUW as part of the checkpoint/restart scheme, but not as a major part of the system-wide backups. Typically, there would be no way to take a backup for each LUW. |

Hi d.sch.
I mean to say DB2 UDB(LUW --> Linux, Unix, Windows). If am right they refer to the term BACK UP (I believe there is a command too) as we refer to image copy. I understand back up does makes sense on Z/os.
I agree with you that it makes no sense to talk about the back up of Logical Unit of work -) |
