Hi,

I searched the forum and found a JCL for this

//STEP1 EXEC PGM=SARBCH
//SYSIN DD *
/DBASE NAME=POX.VIEWJCL
/LIST ID=**1,GEN=**2
//*
//REPORT DD DSN=**3, ...
//SYSOUT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*
**1=JOB-Name or abc* where it gives all the SAR outputs of JOBs starting with abc.
**2=or 0 or -1 or -2 or ...
**3=Your DSN name

But how do I get what the DBASE NAME is ...
Is there any other way I can get the SAR details into a dataset

I have the procedure that can be used to get the details in SAR to a local dataset.

Can you check this option and let me know what menu u get?

Give J infront of the SAR entry that u want to make to a dataset. If the
Print Attribute Panel manu appears then I have the Solution for u. icon_biggrin.gif

In the Print Attribute Panel,
give,
CLASS ===> R
(for me the IOF is routed in CLASS R. Hence I have used it. You can specify your IOF-SDSF Spool Class here and press Enter.)

You will be retruned to the SAR details page again. In the top left you shud get a message saying "JCL created"

When all this is done properly, you give the command SUB on the command prompt of that page itself.

This should take you to BATCH JOB JCL. In the menu give the correct job card and press Enter.

This will submit a job and the job will be in IOF(SDSF Spool).

From the job its very easy to snap datasets. Do let me know if it has worked till this.

The next steps are also lengthy one.

The next step for snapping inot the dataset is,

Exit from SAR and go to IOF(SDSF Spool).

Select the output job in IOF(SDSF Spool).

Select the output file you want to make into a dataset.

Go to the page of the report that you want to have at the beginning of the dataset.

Determine how many lines of the report you need to have sent to a dataset. In this example, we'll say 1,000 lines. (You can snap a maximum of 999,999 lines.) You need to select a size large enough to hold all lines in the report.

Type SD at the top of the screen and press enter.

In IOF Snap Dataset Options, set the DSNAME parameter. The default is JOBNAME.IOFLIST. If you leave this set to default, the full dataset name that will be created will be TSO-ID.JOBNAME.IOFLIST.

Set RECFM to FBA (FB if you don't want an ASA character to be included in the file).

Set LRECL to 133 (or whatever the report format is).

Set BLKSIZE to 1330 (or whatever blocksize is appropriate for the record size).

Press enter.

Type 'SNAP 1000', and press enter. (Leave out the comma.)

Exit IOF(SDSF Spool) entirely. Your dataset won't be populated until you exit from IOF(SDSF Spool).

Look in 3.4 and you will see the dataset TSO-ID.JOBNAME.IOFLIST.[/list]

Hope this helps.

Do let us know any problem faced.

If you are able to Print Pages or Records from SAR and see the output in SDSF , either under your TSO userid or SARXMS job like Khaleelahmed said, you can use command 'XDC' to print the data into output dataset.

naveensnayak,

I'm not sure I understand the original question, these latest posts indicate steps on how to retrieve report that has been archived to tape and also print a report from SAR using TSO

IS THAT the question?

Hi,

Can the selection be made through date. Like Gen=0 will refer to latest generation, if i want to get the list of jobs for a particular date, is that possible??

Please provide me with the syntax

yes, you can select by date.

Read the SAR user guide for syntax or contact your Systems Programmer.
