Hi All,
In our Z/OS system we have installed the CICS and created one region. Now I want to create another region within the same LPAR which should be of same capacity as of the Region 1. Can I use the already created CICS region for the creation of new region, if yes then how ?
Please help.
THANKS A TON in advance. |

Mild suggestion/comment....
I feel that teaching on how to clone a CICS region is something outside the scope of this forum..
there are too many concerns and actions to be taken into account, to be planned and to be acted on,
to make them suitable for a forum reply.
Here are a sample of few of them ( not necessarily in priority/importance )
global CICS architecture:
Terminal owning region, Application owning region, File owning region
Program libraries:
test/production
Resource definition procedures
Network configuration
DB2 access
test/productions
security
File sharing
...
...
add many many more
regards

Just submit the same CICS job with job name. This will cover your first levl requirement. Then you need to clone all DBs and files and change all system table entries. |

Hello,
Hopefully C_M_Q will not simply charge off and do that.
Yes, eventually, the jcl might be cloned for the second CICS, but all of the positioning work needs to be done first. The starter list from Enrico shold be followed first.
Before the actual setup is done, there needs to be an understanding as to who has authority to use which components. If there is a "sandbox" region, permissions are not as important, but when the "real" regions are activated, security is a major factor. |

Thanks for all your answers.
But I preferred creating this second region also from scratch - that is to say "without cloning". Whatever material I got are for CICSPLEX kind of things, but my requirement was not that much complex. I wanted to have simply independent CICS regions running in the same LPAR. But didn't get any convincing document for "Cloning of CICS region" as such.
Anyway - problem is solved now. Thanks again for all your thoughts. |
