1. Show how the i/p looks like, and the expected o/p
2. Specify based on what position you want to sort the data.
3. RECFM and LRECL of the i/p and o/p files?

i would like to delete duplicate values from a file..
hw will i do this using sort utility

To delete duplicate records from an input file, Use SUM FIELDS=NONE.

lekshmi_ci,

Since you're not familiar with DFSORT and DFSORT's ICETOOL, I'd suggest reading through "z/OS DFSORT: Getting Started". It's an excellent tutorial, with lots of examples, that will show you how to use DFSORT, DFSORT's ICETOOL and DFSORT Symbols. You can access it online, along with all of the other DFSORT books, from:
